Lifestyle Engagement Photos, Part 1: Duffin’s Donuts

January 2, 2019 lifestyle engagement photoshoot

We’re beginning 2019 by looking back on our lifestyle engagement photos taken during the fall of last year. These photos were taken by our close friend, Albert Cleto of High North Productions. We want to give a special shoutout to him for making the photoshoot feel so effortless and authentic. Like hanging out with a pal…bert (don’t blame us for the bad pun).

When we were first looking at engagement photo inspiration, we realized we wanted something a bit unconventional. We didn’t want the usual romantic outdoorsy photos–not that there is anything wrong with that style. We wanted something that felt personal and unique to us and we’re glad that Albert was able to incorporate that with all of the detailed shots.

Now, Phil and I have a lot in common–cats, raving, board games, etc.–but food is one of our major faves. We love to eat but–ironically–hate to cook. This means that we end up eating out a lot. Give us cheesy pizza, pair it with the weekend and a good Netflix drama, and we are content.

Although we are foodies, we are not fancy foodies. We like food establishments that are underrated and unassuming. We feel a lot more at home at a family-run Vietnamese restaurant than a trendy cafe. We’d rather get 3 rolls of sushi each than a 3-course meal. We like our food hearty and hefty.

That’s why Duffin’s Donuts is one of our favourite places in Vancouver. Duffin’s is a family-run restaurant that first opened its doors in 1987. It’s known for its eclectic menu of food (and guests) and for being open day and night. From the hot tortas and sub sandwiches to the fried chicken to the retro diner booths, there’s something for everyone at Duffin’s.
